The second edition of the Panettone World Championship – Team Edition has successfully come to a close, celebrating the art of sourdough mastery.
In a packed HostMilano pavilion, Team Taiwan triumphed, claiming the world title and receiving the prestigious trophy from the hands of the Italian team, the reigning champions.
An exciting final showcased the finest international talents, transforming the fair into a stage of flavour and innovation.
On the podium, celebrating multicultural excellence, were Argentina (second place) and Australia (third place).

THE EVENT
A Meeting of Cultures and Generations in the Name of Sourdough
After the success of the first edition, the Accademia dei Maestri del Lievito Madre e del Panettone Italiano organized the second World Panettone Team Championship, bringing together nine national teams from four continents: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, Germany, Japan, Spain, Peru and Taiwan.
Each team was composed of outstanding master pastry chefs.
The Panettone World Championship was created to promote international excellence in artisanal Panettone, highlighting the different cultures and traditions of those who create this dessert using only sourdough starter, the true identity symbol of each territory.
This is the only team championship in the world featuring products made live, under a strict competition regulation and the watchful eyes of inspectors and cameras, which allowed viewers to witness various stages of the contest live from the Polin Group laboratories in Verona.
Organized by the Accademia dei Maestri del Lievito Madre e del Panettone Italiano, with the patronage of the Ministero dell’Agricoltura, della Sovranità Alimentare e delle Foreste and in collaboration with HostMilano, the event celebrated the boundless passion for an iconic Italian dessert.
The competition also highlighted a remarkable generational diversity, uniting talents such as Marin Astocondor (Peru, born 1962), the oldest competitor, and Matheus Andrade Silva (Brazil, born 1995), the youngest — proving that sourdough is a bridge between cultures and generations.

The 2025 Panettone World Championship shone brightly thanks to the presence of prestigious international guests and special stars. Master Iginio Massari, guest of honour, was awarded by Angela Frenda of Cook – Corriere della Sera, the event’s official media partner.
Icons such as Antonio Bachour, Damiano Carrara,
Angelo Musa and Davide Oldani enriched the event with their experience and charisma on stage.
Hon. Daniela Dondi and Councillor Barbara Mazzali emphasized the cultural and symbolic value of Panettone, a true emblem of Italian excellence worldwide.
The Gala Evening held at the Testori Auditorium – Lombardy Region concluded the edition in style, celebrating the success and global impact of the Panettone World Championship.
